A superb presentation copy of the lavishly illustrated version of this monumental work. Inscribed on the title page, 'To Penny Middleton, Best wishes to a dynamic lady who has helped considerably to produce future leaders of our beloved country. N Mandela 7.4.97'. A secondary gift inscription to the top of the title page reads, 'Dear Mrs. Middleton Thank you for all your kindness I will miss you. Love Roxy xx'. Penny Middleton was a teacher and seemingly something of a political activist in South Africa. The inscription is dated the day Mandela attended a communist party convention. Signed copies of any manifestation of this, Mandela's principal work have always been sought after but obtainable. And fully inscribed copies are significantly more desirable and proportionately harder to find. The present copy with its warm and significant inscription is especially great.
