£750

A handsome example of Johnston's Royal Atlas of Modern Geography, containing 48 stunning double-page and partly hand-coloured maps, each with a special index. The North America map shows Colorado as a Territory - very up to date for a British Atlas (most do not show Colorado until 1862). This is one of the best, most detailed and most prominent British atlases from the second half of the nineteenth century.
