Rare hand-coloured copy of a fine visual record of the Indian Mutiny by George Atkinson, Captain in the Bengal Engineers. The coloured edition was priced at £6.6s, whilst the regular tinted copies were £3.3s.

Description

First edition. Folio (55.6 x 37.2 cm.), 26 lithographs on 20 sheets (including pictorial title), all hand-coloured as issued, short tears repaired to plates 13 & 18 not touching image, light finger soiling to a few margins, text and plates guarded throughout, original pictorial red cloth gilt, rather worn, corners repaired, neatly rebacked modern red half calf gilt, a very good copy of a scarce item.
