Graham Greene first editions
Greene, [Henry] Graham. (1904-1991). The English novelist, short-story writer, and playwright, Graham Greene's works make highly collectible modern first editions. His novels are heavily influenced by his conversion to Catholicism and are unusual combinations of psychological studies, adventure thrillers, and essays on moral and theological dilemmas.
Collecting Graham Green First Edition Books
Graham Greene first editions provide an excellent entry point for collectors at all levels. The later books from the 1960s & '70s in great condition can be acquired for less than £200; 1950s titles in very good + condition can be difficult, and as a result price can vary considerably. But the early key titles, including Brighton Rock, England Made Me (with the famous Youngman Carter jacket design) in dust-jackets are increasingly hard to find, and as a result the prices now are very competitive. The market has become increasingly sensitive to restoration to the jackets, with the emphasis moving much more toward original condition when possible.
