Surma men create their principal body decoration by smearing the skin with a mixture of chalk and water and drawing intricate desings.
Carol Beckwith and Angela Fisher are world-renowned photographers who have dedicated their lives to recording the traditional cultures of Africa. Having met in the early 1980s they have travelled across 270,000 miles, through remote corners of 40 countries exploring more than 150 African cultures.
