The Elector Bible is a German language folio-sized, Martin Luther translation of the New and Old Testaments of the Bibles authorised by Ernest I, Duke of Saxe-Gotha and printed by Wolfgang Endter in Nuremberg, Germany from 1641 to 1758. This is the richly illustrated ninth edition.

Ninth edition; folio (46.5 x 31.5 cm); two parts bound in one volume, dedication vignette, copper engraved title-page, 18 engraved titles , 12 engraved. portraits, 3 double-page engraved maps, 2 double-page engaved.plans, 1 double-page engraved calendar and 13 (3 double-page) copper engraved plates, some marginal spotting, slightly fraying to the edges of two maps, one plate with tear, title-page with restored tear, private stamp of previous owner 'H.Sasse' in the margins of some of the text pages; decorated endpapers, contemporary lavishly gilt-decorated calf with floral and other motifs, gauffered fore-edge, metal clasps with leather straps, ( lacks one metal fitting); 22 nn., 11 num., 32 nn. Bll., 686 p.; 950 pp.; overall a fine example.
