Galanis, 22 plates with tissue-guards, numerous in-text illustrations and photographic reproductions; contemporary red pebble-grain morocco, upper cover with gilt lettering and calligraphic flourish, raised bands, spine panels with gilt sultana centerpiece, gilt titling, mustard yellow endpapers, edges untrimmed, modern marbled paper slipcase, a fine copy.

  7. 8vo (20 x 13 cm); [iv], xxiv, 262 pp., [5], biography of Krylov written by P. A. Pletnev, 25 hand-coloured full-page lithographs by Ulyanov including a frontispiece, plates on various colour paper, minor staining to text block, title foxed; original hand-coloured lithographic boards dated 1848, spine skilfully rebacked, retaining most of the original design, some wear to boards but overall good copy.

First edition, one of only 600 copies; 6 volumes bound in 11 parts, folio; 1087 plates, 250 of which are full-page heliogravures and 837 are smaller collotypes, each portrait is accompanied by text in French and Russian, each leaf is stamped 'les portraits russes', with the errarta and addenda slips and tables, incredibly fresh internally; contemporary half maroon morocco over marbled boards, with the original wrappers bound in, slight discolouration to bottom of the spine of one volume, otherwise in excellent condition.

  9. First edition, oblong folio (39 x 53 cm); title-page in Cyrillic, ten chromolithographs loose as issued with captions in Russian and French, in good condition; in the original publisher's red cloth portfolio, without the ties, silver gilt title in French to upper cover.

Limited edition, one of 500 copies of the American edition; folio, (40 x 30 cm); 56 mounted colour plates (two in-text) and frontispiece portrait; later half black morocco and marbled boards with decorative colour inlays to spine (image from plate 15 of book), gilt lettering, marble and morocco slipcase (glued along one edge). A fine copy.
