  1. 8vo, with 20 photographic plates, a folding plan of Mecca and a plan of the mosque, original navy cloth with gilt lettering on spine, a very good copy.

  2. Subscriber's edition, 4to; subscriber's or 'Cranwell' edition, one of 170 complete copies, inscribed by Lawrence 'Complete copy. i.xii.26 TES' on list of illustrations, and with 'Roberts' amended in ink to 'K[ennington]' as usual, this copy additionally signed by H.J. Hodgson (one of the printers) at his printed name on the colophon leaf. Printed in red and black, colour frontispiece portrait of Feisal by Augustus John and 65 plates (many coloured or tinted, 4 double-page) by Eric Kennington, William Roberts, Augustus John, William Nicholson, Paul Nash and others, 4 folding colour maps (laid on linen as issued), 58 illustrations in text (one colour) by Roberts, Nash, Kennington, Blair Hughes-Stanton, Gertrude Hermes and others, initials by Edward Wadsworth, illustrated endpapers by Kennington, with the four-page Some Notes on the Writing of the Seven Pillars of Wisdom by T.E. Shaw bound in before title. Quarter vellum, cream boards by Bumpus (stamped inside upper cover), titles to spine gilt, all edges rough gilt. Preserved in a matching, contemporary fleece-lined, vellum-backed solander box (with Leicester Gallery catalogue for the exhibition of the illustrations for this book, 1927 held in a recess inside the front board). A beautiful copy of one of the scarcer and most restrained binding variants.

  3. First edition: 6 volumes, folio ( size: 61 x 42 cm); six hand-coloured lithographic titles, one uncoloured lithographic portrait of Roberts by C. Baugniet, 241 hand­ coloured lithographic plates, drawn on stone by Louis Haghe after David Roberts, all mounted on card, two engraved maps, bookplate: all bound in contemporary red morocco gilt, covers with broad panel border composed of fillets of varying widths on both sides of a swirling floral roll-tool border, spine in six compartments with raised bands, lettered in the second and numbered in the third, the others with repeat dentelle panel, board edges with a floral gilt roll, tum-ins with a broad floral gilt roll, marbled endpapers, edges gilt: a fine copy.

  4. First edition. 21 vols bound in 20 (9 volumes quarto text, 1 volume elephant folio text [bound with Antiquities vol I], 11 elephant folio plate volumes), the complete set of 894 plates of which 40 are wholly or partly printed in colours and or hand-coloured, and 2 printed in bistre, many double-page, and or folding, plate DD in Etat moderne II with fore-margin sometime renewed, scattered light foxing, contemporary calf gilt with marbled paper panels to covers (moiré cloth panels to natural history vols.), text volumes rebacked to style, spine gilt lettered and ruled.

First edition, 2 vols; folio (38.5 x 28 cm); text translated by Thomas George Bonney, 63 lithographs, 7 folding (including a panorama of the city), some tinted, two close tears to contents page of vol.II, minor spotting to some plates, marbled endpapers, t.e.g.; later quarter dark blue morocco and blue cloth board, spine with title in silver, a good set.

  8. Third edition, revised, 8vo, 437 pp. signed by the author with a tipped in photo, frontispiece, 8 maps (1 in colour at end), a folding plate with 4 illustrations, and numerous photographic illustrations, original decorated tan cloth, a very good copy.

  9. First edition, 8vo, x, 455 pp., frontispiece, 24 photographic illustrations, 6 maps (5 folding), original red cloth with gilt vignette, a few marks to cloth, ex-library copy with small blind-stamps to plates, inner hinges cracked but firm, library number to title and label to rear pastedown, a good copy.

  10. Folio. 132 pp., original buff wrappers with royal coat of arms to upper cover and photographic illustration to rear, lightly spotted, photographic illustrations throughout, captions in Arabic and English, covers slightly separating from staples and holding, wear to spine extremities, a very good copy.
