An attractive manuscript copy of a book originally published in 1813 in China. The book was created to accompany a puzzle set created in the Qing dynasty (1644-1911) called 'Qi Qiaoban' [Seven Boards]. The puzzle set consists of seven little shapes (called 'tans') made out of ivory, wood, paper, or metal, and the objective of the puzzle is to use all seven pieces to form a large shape specified in the book. The puzzle is known as a 'Tangram puzzle' in the Western world. The present manuscript is probably a copy made by a Western scholar.
