London, Joseph Robins, 1906
£800

Charming suite of engravings, in fine condition, with mysterious origins.

According to Cohn, this issue was put together in about 1906 from loose plates in the Trueman collection (with, in some instances, facsimile plates struck from the original copper plates). It is a charming suite of engravings and includes many memorable images of London traders and fashionable characters such as the Tax Gatherer, Sailor's Lass, Fishmonger and Barber. The true first issue is rare; this later version is, at the very, least uncommon.
