The Channel Islands were the only part of the British Empire to be invaded by the Germans and this 'in house' publication was one of the first defiant accounts of the occupation, with an element of typical British humour in some of the illustrations.

Limited edition of 750 copies signed by the artist and the author, this one numbered 226,4to., 92pp, plus terminal song-sheet leaf, 'Faithful and Free', illustrated title and a further 16 plates, 2 head pieces, in black & white, by Edmund Blampied, some spots to fore-edge, one or two of which have bled onto the extreme edge of a few margins, else near-fine, publisher's chamfered, illustrated, paper-covered boards, spine slightly toned, bumping to lower corner of upper board, slight dust-soiling, otherwise a very good-plus copy, the remnants of the glassine wrapper tipped-in the rear.
