With a hand-coloured view of Odessa. 'Adolphus Slade was a naval officer who spent much of his life in Turkish service. Present at the Battle of Navarino in 1827, he travelled extensively in the Ottoman Empire and made friends with the Kaptan Pasha, head of the Turkish Navy' (Koç).
