This rare French edition has the title pasted on top of the upper board. The text was translated from the seventh edition of " Rheinreise " and this is one of the earliest French editions. This copy is bound in the attractive yellow pictorial bindings known as Biedermeier, the period 1815-1848 is often (in German-speaking countries) referred to as the Biedermeier period in art and especially with reference to a style of furniture. The architectural and landscape designs on these bindings always represent the area covered in the Baedeker. They are considered to be highly collectible.
