A near fine first edition of this partly autobiographical novel by Christopher Isherwood, famous as the author of Goodbye to Berlin (1939, inspiration for the musical/film Cabaret) and A Single Man (1964), which established him as a key author within the Gay Liberation Movement. An attempt has been made to neatly cut the price from the spine, perhaps for export purposes, but is still readable as '7/6 net' both there and on the inside flap.

First edition, first impression; 8vo; frontispiece portrait, some mild toning and light foxing to terminal leaves and endpapers, contemporary ink name and bookseller's small sticker on front pastedown, very small ink-stamp 'colonial cloth' to front free endpaper, publisher's blue cloth lettered in black to spine, slightly bumped but overall a fine copy, dust-jacket by Robert Medley, price neatly excised from spine, some toning to spine, minor marking, slightly nicked at corners, but overall a very good example.
