Apparently unrecorded. A lovely example of this apparently unrecorded history of England from its pre-Saxon origins to Queen Victoria's reign, well-preserved in the original publisher's red cloth gilt.

We can locate no copies on OCLC or COPAC. It was published at a similar time to Charles Knight's popular work of the same name, attributed to the Scottish historians Charles Lillie Craik (1798-1866) and Charles Macfarlane (1799-1858).

12mo (14.5 x 9.5 cm); 10 engraved plates including frontispiece, contemporary dated ownership inscription in pen to title, binding cords occasional exposed but secure; original publisher's red blind-stamped cloth, gilt spine, all edges gilt, corners and extremities slightly rubbed, very good; 430pp.

Provenance

Provenance: J.W.M. Fred: Dendy 1849 (ownership inscription).
