An inevitably somewhat disturbing image by Ralph Steadman, although he apparently found Mickey Mouse an almost comforting presence during his visit to Disneyland. The image was used in Steadman's book America (1974).
From the collection of renowned photographer Sam Haskins, who met Ralph Steadman at the opening night for an exhibition of the illustrator's work in 1979. Haskins had planned a book project on artists that he admired, including Steadman, but the project was never finished alas.
