An account of a successful British expedition led by Hunt in 1953. This copy is inscribed in ink to 'Aola' (Aola Richards) by Edmund Hilary and George Lowe, both New Zealanders and members of this remarkable expedition to climb the highest mountain in the world and George Lowe, a exceptional mountaineer, explorer, film director and the last surviving member of the 1953 British Mount Everest Expedition was a very close friend of Sir Edmund Hilary.

First edition. 8vo., (23 x 16 cm), xx, 299pp., numerous photographic plates throughout (8 in colour), 3 maps and several other illustrations in the text, INSCRIBED to the previous owner by Edmund Hillary and George Lowe, ink inscription of previous owner on front free endpaper; publisher's original blue cloth gilt, original pictorial dust wrapper, slightly worn at corners and some ink markings on upper cover; otherwise a very good copy.
