An excellent set of à Beckett's burlesque prose work written in association with his fellow contributors from Punch magazine, of which à Beckett was the most prolific contributor from its first appearance in 1841 until the time of his death fifteen years later.

Description

First editions. 8vo., 20 parts in 19 as issued, 20 hand-coloured etched plates and 240 woodcut illustrations by John Leech; some light general toning, minor offsetting from plates. Original pictorial printed wrappers; advertisements on inside wrappers and lower wrapper, a little minor creasing and rubbing to edges, 2 parts with ink name to top-right hand corner of upper wrapper, 9 parts with small nearly invisible repair to same corner, a few other ink marks and minor blemishes, preserved in a modern cloth chemise and morocco-backed solander box by Hyman Zucker of Philadelphia.
