Parma, Co' Tipi Bodoniani [Bodoni], 1799
£2,250

Beautiful, fresh example of Bodoni's lovely production in smaller format. Finely bound in full green morocco by an Oxford binder, from 'the heyday of provincial bookbinding.' (Maggs)

An excellent example of Bodoni's superb work, very elegant and of the highest quality.

The first owner of the book, Sir John Courtenay Throckmorton, 5th Baronet (1754–1819), who most probably had it bound by Barratt, was a descendant of Sir John Throckmorton (1524–80), a member of the English Parliament during the reign of Queen Mary I. He was also a witness to Queen Mary's will.
