The Almanac is unique in European art literature; no other country produced a single volume that so fully captures the excitement and tensions of the years preceding the First World War. Kandinsky and Marc had been planning the publication of this book since their break-away from the Munich Neue KA1/4nstlervereinigung in June 1911.
