First editions, first impressions; 12 vols, 8vo (190 x 130 mm); internally all are at least in near-fine if not fine condition; publisher's uniform red cloth bindings with black and gilt lettering-pieces to spines, some a tad rubbed at spine extremities, browning to endpapers of first two titles, slight offsetting to endpapers of third, else hear fine, illustrated dust-jackets mostly credited to 'Broome-Lynn', some chips to corners or bumping to spine ends and a few with toned spines and a few flaps with small creases but, overall a remarkably crisp and near-fine set with none price-clipped; together with a copy of Hilary Spurling's handbook to the series published in 1977.
