Shapero Rare Books | The International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB)
Born out of a spirit of international collegiality in 1947, the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers (ILAB) today has over 1,800 bookdealers on its books, spread over 34 countries, and brings a unifying presence to bear on the rare books market globally. Numerous national antiquarian bookselling associations fall under its umbrella, including those representing America, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia and the United Kingdom, and its members such as Shapero Rare Books are subject to the code of practice ILAB administers and administrates.
Beyond their role in the larger Book Fairs around the world, the International League of Antiquarian Booksellers also runs special Pop Up Book Fairs, which they liken to “speed dating for book lovers”. They also run the annual ILAB Congresses, which take place in different venues biennially and feature a programme of talks and events relating the collecting of rare books and works on paper.
