Boris Zaytsev (1881- 1972), prose writer and dramatist was a member of the literary group Sreda, which met every Wednesday from 1899 to 1916 and counted Anton Chekhov, Ivan Bunin, Maxim Gorky and Alexander Kuprin among its members. Zaytsev was later chairman of the Moscow Union of Writers from 1921 to 1922 before he was allowed to emigrate to Paris where he became a prominent émigré writer.

This is the first edition, taken from the collected from the collected works of the author. A separate printing of Tikhie Zori didn’t appear until 1961 when it was published in Munich.


First edition; vol I from the collected works of Zaystev; 8vo (21.5 x 14.5 cm) inscribed by the author; original printed wrappers bound in later blue cloth with gilt lettering to spine; a fine copy.
