The historian Nikolay Pavlishchev (1801-79) served in Poland about 40 years and published important works on Poland, Ukraine and Russia. When he was 24, he developed a close relationship with the slightly older Pushkin and married the poet’s sister, Olga Sergeevna, three years later in 1828.
