George Loukomski (1884-1952) trained as an architect in Russia before emigrating to Europe after the revolution. He had exceptional talents and his paintings, in which architectural works featured heavily were highly praised. Loukomski had a sincere love for Kiev, a city steeped in religious importance, and always dreamed of being able to return to his homeland.
First edition. 4to. 16 colour plates with tissue guards, 64 in-text black and white photograph, later quarter white calf and gilt marble effect boards, gilt title to spine, original pictorial wrappers bound inside. Slight wear to title on spine but otherwise a fine copy.
