Anderson (1795-1845), was a Scottish civil servant who entered the East India Company in 1813. He served first as a writer in Penang (then known as Prince of Wales Island), before being promoted to the rank of factor. Eventually he became a justice of the peace for Penang, Singapore, and Malacca.
