Description

The Valley of Fear is a Sherlock Holmes novel in part inspired by an incident Arthur Conan Doyle recounted in a subsequent omnibus edition involving the heroic actions of a Pinkerton’s Agency detective. This was the fourth and final Sherlock Holmes novel, and as a first edition is hard to find in such good order.

Description

First UK edition, first impression, 8vo; frontispiece by Frank Wiles, 6pp. advertisements, contemporary ownership inscription to verso of preliminary blank leaf, some foxing to early leaves and extremities of text-block; publisher’s red cloth lettered in gilt, spine slightly rolled and very slightly lightened, but overall a very good copy.
