This expedition, under the auspices of the British Admiralty, was intended to complete the coastal survey from the west coast of Hudson’s Bay to Point Turnagain on the Kent Peninsula. However his ship was severely damaged by ice and stuck fast for ten months before being forced to return home.

First edition. 8vo, viii, 456pp., 12 pages ads dated July 1838 at end, folding engraved map, 12 lithographed plates, original dark blue blindstamped cloth, recased with new endpapers, a very good copy.
