This was volume I of the official guide of the German Automobile Club and designed primarily for motorists. It was published shortly after the ” Anschluss of Austria ” . Volume II was intended to cover former Austria. However in 1939 they issued a second volume which covered all the German territories and included Austria. This special club edition with insignia on title-page was only issued to club members. Copies without the insignia were issued to the general public. Endpapers dated “Mai 1938”.
First edition. xxviii, 632pp, 60 town plans, (with the clubausgabe on title-page), several maps frayed at edge; gilt lettering bright, publisher’s coarse-grained binding, original pictorial dust wrapper, torn and frayed ; overall a good copy.
