Description

Sutcliffe, a veteran of the Napoleonic Wars, later served Chile in various military and administrative posts, including that of governor of the Juan Fernandez Islands. The present work concerns Alexander Selkirk, upon whom Defoe based the fictional character Robinson Crusoe, and his time on the island.
