Anthony Galignani and his brother, William (1798–1882), were well known Parisian publishers and bookshop owners. They started publishing travel guides in the early 19th century and had a strong connection with John Murray and his handbooks. This detailed guide book includes many attractive illustrations.

12mo (17 x 16 cm); pp. ix,626,xii, one large folding map at rear, large tear repaired on verso, slightly frayed at edges, several small folding plans, several engraved views; publisher’s green roanblind-stamped boards, gilt lettered, some wear to the corners and edges, a very good firm copy.
