Rare complete set of these elegantly beautiful views of historic sites, streets and monuments in Amsterdam. Originally published in fascicules of five plates each, many of the views are enlivened by representations of people while several depict interiors with large groups. The publisher, Frans Buffa, was an art dealer in the Kalverstraat in Amsterdam, and a well-known publisher of art books and print-series in the first half of the 19th century
Quarto ( 35.2 x 26cm). Engraved title, 45 engraved plates by Lutz and Hoogkamer after Kruijff, Toselli, Jelgerhuis, De Fontenay, Tencate and Greeven, all handcoloured and with tissue guards; title lightly browned with outer corners stained from binding, small circular stain in lower margin of plate 21 affecting caption, occasional tiny marginal spots. Contemporary half calf, marbled boards; neatly rebacked preserving spine, light wear, an excellent copy.
