This portfolio illustrates the play ‘Ubu Roi’ by the French writer Alfred Jarry, that premiered in 1896. It was part of the genre of the Theatre of the Absurd and the Surrealists and Dadaists were thrilled by it. It was adopted not only by Miró but also by other artists such as Max Ernst or Man Ray.
Limited edition numbered 13 of 180 ( total edition 205) , signed by Miró in pencil on colophon, 13 lithographs printed in colours, on Arches wove paper,loose as issued in the original cloth-covered boards and slip-case, all housed in cream coloured solander box with black, gilt-morocco label.
