Description

Sir Nathaniel William Wraxall, 1st Baronet (1751 – 1831), English author, entered Parliament in 1780 and sat till 1794 for Hindon in Wiltshire, Ludgershall and Wallingford, in succession. He published in 1795 the beginning of a History of France from the Accession of Henry III to the Death of Louis XIV, which was never completed.

Description

Second edition, 2 volumes, 8vo., (21.5 x 13.5 cm), occasional light spotting; contemporary tree calf, spines in six compartments, red morocco lettering piece to second, black numbering piece to fifth, elaborate gilt bands and centre tools, gilt outer edges, minor rubbing. A charming set.

Provenance: neat contemporary ownership signature to front free endpaper.
