Description

Fine and rare mezzotints of horses, published separately.
Siltzer records the charming naivety of Sartorius’s work, referring to them as from “the school of the wooden horse with their hind feet stuck fast in the ground”. He goes on to comment on the scarcity of such works which undoubtably influenced his son, John, who became known as a sporting artist.

Description

Mezzotints by T. Burford, good condition, strong impressions. Mounted, framed and glazed. Dimensions: 250 by 345mm. (9.75 by 13.50 inches).
