This rare portfolio contains 20 illustrated plates with ornamental designs, probably for textiles or wallpapers, with semi-abstract flower motifs, inspired by the Oriental styles created by the artists of Samarkand. Executed with bold colors, the designs in this album present an interesting combination of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles. The illustrations reveal Séguy’s unique interest in the study of nature as a source of inspiration for artistic creation. The use of pochoir as a printing technique, popular in France at the turn of the XX century, was ideal for capturing vivid colours.
Folio (46 x 34 cm). Half-title, list of contents, title-page, 20 colour pochoir lithograph plates, all numbered; plate 8 browned. All loose as issued in publisher’s original marbled paper portfolio with label.
