First editions, royal 8vo, x, [i], 347; xii, 542, [i]pp. First work: with original drawing, etched frontispiece, double-page map and twenty lithographic plates (one large folding, 1 hand-coloured) numerous illustrations in text. Second work: engraved frontispiece, 37 lithographed plates (3 folding, one double-page), 2 maps. Some foxing to plates, uniformly bound in contemporary tan half morocco gilt by S. Hogg, marbled boards and edges, a fine set.

First edition, deluxe format, number 1 of 250 numbered copies signed by the author; photographic colour frontispiece and 29 similar plates of which 9 folding and including 2 plates on one sheet, 50 half-tone plates, captioned tissue guards, hinges reinforced [ý]as issued; publisher's brown pigskin with gilt roundel device to upper cover and lettered in gilt spine, t.e.g., others uncut, slightly rubbed at spine ends and fore-corners, but overall a very good, handsome copy.

Major after drawings by Borra, on 59 sheets (3-sheet panorama not joined), light toning as usual, occasional light offsetting, contemporary catspaw calf gilt, rebacked preserving spine, expert repairs to edges, red morocco lettering piece, a very handsome example.
