First Italian edition; folio (37 x 26 cm), 117 woodcut illustrations (including 10 full-page), woodcut initials, some contemporary ink marginalia of pointing fingers or grotesques of birds, faces, bagpipes etc., upper margin trimmed close, occasionally affecting headlines, some repairs to marginal tears, some slight worming to margins with a few leaves repaired, occasional browning, some light water-staining, mostly towards end, S5 torn and repaired, previous owner's pencil signature inside and another ink inscription on front free endpaper; bound in later vellum-backed boards, spine ruled in gilt with red morocco label, slightly rubbed.

First edition in Latin; folio (45 x 32.5 cm); 325 of 326 leaves (lacking final blank), calligraphic woodcut title, 1809 woodcut illustrations from 645 blocks by Michael Wolgemut and Wilhelm Pleydenwurff, some with contemporary hand-colour, occasional light toning to leaves, partly washed, some minor finger-soiling; 19th century full red morocco by Petit, inner dentelles gilt, spine with six raised bands, gilt lettering to second and third compartments, all edges gilt, marbled endpapers; an excellent example of this important work.
