  1. Broadside (31 x 29.5 cm. approx), printed in blue ink with a large pictorial vignette surrounded by an ornamental border.

  2. Two text volumes 4to and an atlas folio (56.8 x 41cm). Text with 2 engraved portrait frontispieces of Emperor Tchien Lung and the Earl of Macartney and 26 illustrations of which one full-page; atlas with 44 plates, including one folding, most after W. Alexander, and 7 double-page folding maps; occasional browning and spotting, heavier on 2 plates. Text volumes in contemporary calf, atlas volume in half calf over marbled boards; rebacked in lighter calf to style, a bit rubbed.

  3. First edition in French. 3 vols, comprising 2 vols 8vo text and folio atlas (44 x 28.5 cms); 21 lithograph plates by Engelmann, 9 engraved maps (3 folding), French blue half morocco gilt (atlas bound to match), a fine set.

  4. Second edition, 8vo, xvi, 488 pp., 4 engraved plates, 4 folding maps (1 with short tears and neat repair to verso), woodcuts in text, nineteenth century tan half morocco gilt, marbled boards, edges sprinkled red, a fine example.

  5. First edition, copy 388 of 1000. Folio, [8], 40 pp., [2 (part-title)], 66 mounted photographic plates, each with border and title printed in brown, [4 (limitation, blank)], with woodcut initials printed in red and black; minimal spotting to preliminaries; publisher's blue silk gilt, blue ribbon page-marker; rubbed and cracked, repairs to corners and joints, otherwise a very good, internally clean copy.

  6. Sixth edition of vol. I, fourth edition of vol. II, third edition of vol. III. 3 vols, small folio (312 by 218mm approx.) Woodcut devices to title-pages, 10 double-page maps and plans, 8 full-page woodcut plates, with further illustrations in the text. Contemporary Italian (Venetianý) morocco, boards & spines ruled & stamped in gilt; paper repairs to title-page of vol. I, and outer margin of following two leaves, occasional dampstaining to vol. I, minor worming to first and last leaves and pastedowns of vols. II and III.

First edition. 2 volumes, 8vo, [2], vi, xxii, [2], 487, [1]; [6], 507, [3]pp., illustrated with 6 folding engraved maps and plates, woodcut initials and head pieces; contemporary speckled calf, covers with double gilt fillet, spines in six compartments, red morocco label, gilt numbered direct, raised bands framed by double gilt fillet, an attractive set.

  9. 8vo. cxlii, 291pp., 12 illustrations and 4 maps, original blue cloth gilt, ship device on upper board, spine faded, top of spine worn, a very good copy of a scarce title.

  10. First edition. 2 volumes, 8vo (23.4 x 1.47 cm). Title, 559pp.; title, III, 562 - 1122, 4, XVIIIpp, with 24 lithographed plates after drawings by the author (12 in each volume); lacks map, pp. 881-896 bound after p.912, clean tear across pp. 1-2, occasional light foxing. Contemporary Russian half morocco, flat spines; spines rubbed, joints rubbed.
