First edition. 4to, (32.9 x 25.3 cm); text printed on Whatman paper dated 1794, hand-coloured engraved title page, 86 hand-coloured aquatint costume plates by Thomas Rowlandson, most heightened with gold and silver (plates dated 1798-1799), closed short marginal tear to Infantry plate 4, Cavalry plate 4 with some staining not affecting image, scattered spotting, mainly to text; later red half morocco, dampstain to upper board, extremities rubbed, a very good copy.

Daniell and others; HUNTER (JAMES) Picturesque Scenery from the Kingdom of Mysore letter-press title, hand-coloured stipple-engraved portrait of Tippoo Sultan, 40 hand-coloured aquatint views by H. Merke, J. C. Stadler, J. B. Harraden and others after Hunter, [watermarks 1801-1802], light off-setting, some spotting to first leaves and to some internal margins, contemporary red morocco gilt, gilt dentelles, all edges gilt, a very handsome example.

Folio, 2 vols bound in 1, titles in red and black, 100 hand-coloured engraved plates, most with tissue-guards, 2H1 vol. 1 bound back-to-front, 2E1 vol. 2 with tear running into text, scattered spotting, contemporary diced calf, rebacked retaining original backstrip, a little rubbed, bumping to corners and extremities, inner hinges strengthened with tape, all edges gilt, a very good copy.

Tinted lithograph title with portrait of General Napier, his printed signature and printed text and 10 hand-coloured lithograph views by Haghe after Edwards, heightened with gum arabic, mounted on card as issued (sheets size: 45 x 55.5 cm.; image size: c.27.5 x 38 cm.), leaf of text printed in blue with dedication to Napier and description of the plates. Loose as issued in original red morocco-backed ochre board portfolio, gilt title and large vignette to upper board, yellow paper pastedowns and brown cloth ties.

Second edition; large folio (46.8 x 32.7 cm); manuscript title page, 264 watercolours numbered in pencil (of which 2 folding) by Ferdinand and Franz Bauer, very occasional light marks, light crease to corner of plate 85, slight foxing at head of plate 101, short closed tear to fold of both folding plates (not affecting images), contemporary diced russia by C. Kalthoeber (binder's orange ticket to front free endpaper), richly gilt, gilt lettering to spine, gilt and marbled edges, marbled endpapers, neatly rebacked with original spine laid down, slight wear to upper board and extremities, repairs to corners; an excellent copy; [2], 136, [4, list of plates].
