Georg Dionysius Ehret, (1708 -1770) Botanical illustrations
Georg Dionysius Ehret was a botanist and entomologist known for his botanical illustrations. A German-born artist he spent his early career travelling and working across Europe prior to working closely with Carl Linnaeus. However, in 1736, he moved to England and became much sought after by leading botanists and collectors to record their rare plants.

His finest book illustrations are found in Christopher Trew’s Plantae Selectae 1750-1773; Hortus Nitidissimis 1768-1786; and Weinmann’s Phytanthoza Iconographia, 1735-1745.
