First edition; slim 8vo; engraved frontispiece of a croquet lawn, age-toned, a few light spots, hinges split but firm, otherwise internally very good; publisher's limp pinkish-orange beaded cloth, gilt lettering to front cover, rubbed, a few marks, otherwise still bright and in very good condition.

  6. First edition, first issue (without advertisements or date to title verso); 8vo; half-title, frontispiece and 11 plates by T.M.R. Whitwell, device to title, some minor toning and oxidising, usual toning to endpapers, contemporary lending library label & stamp to front pastedown; publisher's green cloth with with cricket scene in white, black and red to upper cover and spine, with title in gilt to spine, spine slightly dulled, some minor rubbing and bumping to extremities with small closed tear to cloth at head of spine.

Second edition; 4to; two hand-coloured plates and further engraved illustrations and vignettes within the text, neat, contemporary ink gift inscription to front flyleaf, a few random spots, otherwise very good, contemporary gilt-panelled calf, all edges gilt, cockerel endpapers, staining and wear to boards but still a very handsome binding; xvii, 298pp.

First and limited numbered edition of only 2000 printed, (although 3500 were planned), this copy numbered 1671, landscape 4to., 312pp., numerous vintage photographic illustrations with French text, (together with a separate saddle-stitched English translation by Peter Hull also published in 1991, 64pp.), publisher's blue leatherette, the upper cover mounted with a stunning silver metal intaglio plaque, rubbing to head of spine, else fine, both books housed in original decorative slip-case, which is a little worn and chipped from protecting the superb content.

First edition, with tipped-in card bearing his signature and dated 1937, 8vo., frontispiece photographic print of of the author with her husband, Richard Tauber, further illustrations taken from photographs, publisher's red cloth, illustrated dust-jacket, a little chipped and creased at extremities, a bit rubbed, otherwise very good.
