Missing the additional engraved title depicting Moses and Aaron beneath six circular vignettes of biblical scenes; woodcut vignette to printed title (restored with partial loss of text), 14 half-page engraved illustrations, folding engraved map of the Holy Land at end (laid on modern paper), all by Abraham ben Jacob; leaves at beginning and end remargined with modern paper. Staining to some leaves. Contemporary calf with covers stamped in Hebrew; rebacked (blind spine). 26 ll. and map.

First two title pages' edges browned and chipped, slight worming to few other leaves, not affecting text. [26], 183, [1]pp.

First edition; 8vo (270 x 195 mm); inscription in Hebrew in old purple ink to margin of one leaf, minor warming and small marginal tears to some leaves, faded stamp and ink stains to title. 20th-century vellum-backed parchment binding, housed in a morocco backed slip case, with a red cloth chemise. 40 ll.

David Sassoon's name also appears in gilt letters on the spine of Rosh HaShanah volume, text in Hebrew; contemporary morocco bindings with fine, gilt ornamental tooling to spine and boards, embossed endleaves and all edges gilt, slightly rubbed; Rosh HaShana Machzor: one vol., 114 ll.; Yom Kippur Machzor: two vols., 130 ll. & 166 ll.

Small marginal tears to the first 4 leaves and the last leaf with no damage to text. Dedication to previous owner Dr. Reuven Madel, in Hebrew to the front endleaf, dated 'Lodz, 1985'. Title, i-iv, 5-82 pp.
