Hand-coloured engraved map, dissected and mounted on linen, extending west to east from Lisbon to Islamabad and north to south from Scotland to Ceylon, inset 'sketch' map of England to China, lower left, 4 additional sheets attached to map, showing Portugal in the west and eastern India to the east, blue pebble-graied cloth slip-case, with publisher's label. Dimensions: 680 × 935 mm. (26.75 × 36.75 inches).

First edition; folio (50.7 x 34.6 cm); 48 double-page maps, hand-coloured in outline, watercourses printed in blue, advertisements tipped in at rear, slight marginal toning, light foxing to prelims and light spash-stains to four maps, otherwise good; contemporary burgundy half morocco gilt, gilt lettering to spine and upper cover, spine with 6 raised bands and gilt in compartments, light rubbing to extremities, all edges gilt, teal endpapers, overall a very good example.

First edition, folio; erratic pagination as issued, but complete. Engraved frontispiece (soft crease, old tear repaired), title within double-ruled border with large woodcut crown above the imprint, text within ruled border with marginal column for side-notes, engraved plate of armorials by John Goddard, folding map of Palestine, 26 double-folding maps and plates, most signed by Thomas Cross, John Goddard, William Marshall, and Robert Vaughan. Eighteenth-century polished calf, covers bordered in blind, rebacked, tan morocco lettering piece, new endpapers, all edges gilt, large general map with tear repaired and some reinforcement to verso, page 235/36 with blank outer corner repaired, page 241 and 245 with small marginal repairs marginal restoration to plate at page 262, small marginal repairs to plate at page 288, wormtrack to margin of plate page 442 repaired,plate at page 18 part II laid down, plate page 72 part II with restoration to upper margin, tear to page 77 part II repaired with no loss of text but loss to page number, a very good copy.

Folio (46 x 30 cm), [12], 49[i.e.52], 293, [1]; 103, [1] pp., engraved frontispiece, title printed in red and black, 5 engraved maps, 259 engraved plates on 130 sheets, printed verso and recto, contemporary panelled calf, rebacked preserving old label, edges and corners repaired, a handsome copy.

First edition, number 9 of 100 specially bound copies, from an overall limitation of 750; folio (310 x 190 mm.); printed in dark green throughout, wood-engraved frontispiece, title vignette, 6 chapter headings and device, all by John Buckland-Wright, one full-page map of the east coast of Australia; full green morocco, gilt, by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, top edge gilt, others uncut, spine very slightly lightened, but otherwise an excellent copy; housed in original cloth slip-case, lightly marked.

Folio (35.7 x 25.7 cm). 12pp letterpress, title printed in red and black with engraved armorial within double-ruled border, large folding panorama of Edinburgh (with repaired tear) , 60 double-page engraved plates, some plates re-margined at both top and bottom, some with splits at fold, several plates with browning; rebacked preserving most of the contemporary panelled calf.

Third Dutch edition, large paper copy, 2 volumes in 2 parts in 4 volumes, folio (59 x 37 cm); Dutch text; 4 letterpress titles printed in red and black, 4 engraved titles in 3rd state, 4 engraved portraits (one of which double-page), engraved plate of coat-of-arms, double-page genealogical table, 136 engraved maps, plans, bird's-eye views, or plates, together with the additional single-page plate of the monument to Charles Emmanuel II on the Voie Sarde, engraved head- and tailpieces and initials (occasional very light and insignificant browning, a few plates with some scattered light spotting confined to extreme margins). Contemporary Dutch panelled mottled calf, richly gilt, spine with raised bands forming 9 compartments, morocco labels in second and third, gilt edges.
