First edition. 2 vols, 8vo, vii, 461; viii, 458 pp., 175 (mostly photographic) illustrations, diagrams, plans and maps (including 2 folding maps), partial ownership erasure to both front free endpapers; publisher's pictorial red cloth gilt, lightly rubbed, a very good set.

First edition, 8vo, xviii, 564 pp., bound without half-title, 2 maps (1 in the rear cover pocket), 45 lithographed plates, contemporary half calf, morocco label, a bit worn, scattered light foxing (more so to plate at page 424), light wear overall a good copy.
