Uniformly bound in contemporary half-calf, morocco labels, blue morocco numbering roundels, a little staining to third work at beginning and end, a very good set.

Silver medal, 43 mm in diameter. Obverse: bust of Cook in relief with the legend 'Iac. Cook Oceani Investigator acerrimus' (the most intrepid investigator of the seas); reverse: full-length portrait of Britannia, her shield resting by her side, and the legend 'Nil intentatum Nostri Liquere' (our men have left nothing unattempted) and 'Auspiciis George III' in exergue.

First edition, number 9 of 100 specially bound copies, from an overall limitation of 750; folio (310 x 190 mm.); printed in dark green throughout, wood-engraved frontispiece, title vignette, 6 chapter headings and device, all by John Buckland-Wright, one full-page map of the east coast of Australia; full green morocco, gilt, by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, top edge gilt, others uncut, spine very slightly lightened, but otherwise an excellent copy; housed in original cloth slip-case, lightly marked.

Second edition. 4to, xxiii, [iii], 344, [xiv] index, [2] ads pp., folding plate and 4 folding maps, slight spotting, contemporary tree calf, expertly rebacked, original spine richly gilt, with red morocco label, laid down, a fine example.

First editions. 4to (29.2 x 23 cms), x, 1-153, [ii], 246-264; iv, 88pp., engraved portrait of Bligh and 7 engraved charts, plates and plans (of which one folding and 4 double-page); folding plan frontispiece, 3 charts (2 folding). Together bound in contemporary sprinkled calf, neatly rebacked.

First edition. 12 vols comprising: 8 vols 4to text, plus 4 large folio volumes (1 atlas, 3 of plates), three engraved titles, 354 engraved plates and maps, contemporary green morocco-backed boards, atlas in original blue-green marbled boards, modern morocco-backed fold-over box. A fine fresh set, minor defects noted below.

Prevost. Huet, Taunay, P. Oudart and others, by Coutant and others. The subjects include 27 birds, all coloured, 23 fish, most coloured, crustaceans, mammals, insects and others. Occasional light spotting, corners bumped.
