  1. First edition; 8vo; half-title, pictorial title and 20 black & white plates including frontispiece by C. E. Brock, 10pp publisher's adverts at rear, slight age-toning, as usual; publisher's gilt-blocked maroon cloth, top edge gilt, remainder untrimmed, very slight rubbing to extremities and darkening to spine, otherwise a fine copy.

  2. First edition, first issue, [one of 500 copies]; 16mo; 16 colour plates by the author, one plate with pencil initials or flourish beneath, internally excellent, original pink boards lettered and illustrated in black with rounded spine, a superb copy.

  3. First edition thus, number XXI of XXV hors commerce copies, from an overall limitation of 250 copies; 16mo; comprising printed introductory booklet signed & numbered in pencil by Maurice Sendak, with additional pencil signature of printing historian Iain Bain, in original printed wrappers, 34 line block illustrations printed in brown ink on Arches paper, each with pencil limitation details and printed monogram of Alecto Historical Editions on verso, with tissue guard, each loose in separate printed card sleeve; together housed in original cloth drop-back box with inset illustration on upper cover and gilt label on spine, a fine copy.

  4. First trade edition, first issue with date on title-page and a single-page endpaper repeated four times; 16mo; 27 full-page colour illustrations, title vignette and pictorial endpapers by the author; publisher's dark green boards with inset colour illustration, presented in later cloth solander box.

  5. First edition in English, first issue with illustrator's name misprinted as 'C. Mazzanti'; 12mo; half-title and title printed in red & black, frontispiece (with tissue guard) and illustrations by Enrico Mazzanti, a few small marks to a couple of pages, contemporary gift inscription to half-title, overall internally very good, patterned endpapers; publisher's patterned cloth, slight toning to spine and top edge, very light small red stain to foot of lower cover near spine, but overall a good copy.

  6. First edition, one of 100 numbered copies; 16mo (138 x 108 mm.); usual light browning to free endpapers; publisher's green cloth, dust-jacket, an excellent copy.

  7. First Edition. 16mo, 94 pp., title vignette, 15 colour plates and numerous black and white vignettes within text, modern full tan morocco, gilt, original pictorial pastedown to upper cover, green lettering piece to spine, original pictorial endpapers and all edges gilt; small mark to lower outside corner of p.7 otherwise internally very good indeed.

  8. First edition, first printing; large 4to (360 x 300 mm.); colour plates and vignettes by Maxfield Parrish; publisher's cloth with onlaid colour pictorial title, a few minor scratches, slight rubbing, but overall a very good copy.

  9. First edition, first or second printing, with date to title, 16mo., colour frontispiece, plain title vignette and 26 colour plates, pictorial endpapers, publisher's green boards with mounted colour illustration, spine slightly faded, still near-fine overall; preserved in custom-made solander box with upper board of book replicated on lid.

  10. First English edition. Small 4to (26 x 20 cm), 62pp, 12 colour full-page illustrations, black & white illustrations, colour pictorial endpapers, original pictorial boards, dust-jacket, rubbed and occasionally chipped, splitting slightly at spine; overall a very good copy.
