8vo (210 x 140 mm); frontispiece portrait of the author 'from the painting by Toulouse-Lautrec, 1895'; contemporary full purple calf by Bayntun-Riviere, with double gilt panels, floral hand-tooled spine, gilt dentelles, marbled endpapers and all edges gilt, spine and top edges of upper board faded, a few minor scuffs to boards, otherwise very handsome and internally fine.

first edition in English. 3 vols., 8vo, 3 frontispieces, handsomely bound by Riviere & Co in full polished calf gilt, spines in six compartments, red and green labels to second and third, others gilt framed and decorated with Napoleonic eagle, bees, and coronet, raised bands, Napoleon's gilt crest to covers, top edge gilt, others uncut, a fine set.

First edition; 8vo; 20 hand-coloured aquatint plates by Charles Williams, some toning and slight offsetting to text ff., armorial bookplate to front pastedown; later full navy blue morocco ruled in gilt to covers and gilt compartments with decorations to spine, by Riviere & Sons, spine slightly rubbed and sunned, otherwise very good, gilt edges.
