Limited edition, one of 30 copies hand coloured by Miro, signed by the author and the artist on the verso, from a total edition of 100; one leaf, unfolded, small oblong 4to (11 x 27 cm), lithograph heightened with watercolour, pastel and india ink on wove paper, lower right corner slightly creased, otherwise in excellent condition.

  2. 10 albums, small oblong folio or folio (23 x 32 cm, or the reverse); 123 watercolour and gouache paintings on pith paper, some with captions and numbered (in Chinese characters and English), each mounted on paper with a pale blue silk border, each album with 'Tingqua' written in ink to upper flyleaf, some worming, stains and loss to paintings; uniformly bound in contemporary Chinese silk brocade with silk ties; housed in a contemporary Chinese silk brocade box (34.5 x 25 x 17 cm) with hinged lid and silk ribbon handles, box rather worn.

  3. Limited edition; large folio (648 x 928 mm); with 19 original full-page etchings by Elisabeth Frink with aquatint in black on J. Barcham Green paper, Hors De Commerce Copy, 1 of 25, numbered D276 [with] artist's signature in ink at rear; publisher's full green cloth with gold-blocked bird design on the front cover; cover worn at extremities and little mottled, one part of one ribbon tie shortened, otherwise internally, a fine set.

  4. First edition, limited edition, one of 1250 on papier hollande, 5 vols, a complete set; 8vo (22 x 14.5 cm); 184 numbered colour pochoir plates with two supplementary un-numbered plates, text in French, advertisements; original blue printed wrappers laid over later boards, an excellent set.

  5. Limited edition, one of 150 copies on Vélin de cuve de Hollande (this numbered 24), signed by Barbier; 4to (37 x 29 cm); manuscript dedication poem by Albert Flament, 12 full-page and 2 half-page colour woodcut engravings by Schmied after Barbier, text by Albert Flament with decorative devices, borders, initials and tail-pieces, gilt detail; illustrated wrapper with marble background, modern dark morocco blue with large gilt pictorial block to upper cover.

  6. First edition; folio (52.5 x 37 cm); twenty aquatints, comprising uncoloured frontispiece and 8 plates (one tinted sepia plate, seven hand-coloured, including 2 double-page), five with overslips (two of the five with two overslips each), and eleven vignettes (one tinted in sepia and three hand-coloured), two with overslips, occasional marks and finger-soiling to some margins, the final folding pate with neat repair to fold, modern quarter morocco over marbled boards, a very good copy.

  7. First edition, number 157 of 250 copies on Vélin d'Arches from a total edition of 270; large 4to (42.2 x 32 cm); artist's signature stamp to limitation page, 150 lithographs after Giacometti, loose as issued in publisher's printed wrappers, glassine wrappers, cloth chemise and slipcase.

  8. Second edition. 2 parts in 1 volume, small 8vo (14.5 x 10.5 cm)., 1st part: engraved title, [iv] pp., engraved coat-of-arms, 106 engraved plates including 2 folding panoramas (1 with small hole with loss to image), 1 with overslip; 2nd part: engraved title, [iv] pp., engraved coat-of-arms, 79 engraved plates including 1 folding panorama, 2 with overslips, plate 26 signed'H. R.', plates 63 & 64 'execudit de Franco', occasional light waterstain, occasional light soiling, generally in excellent condition, contemporary vellum, lightly shaken.

Vol. I: pp. iv ('Prefazione' and 'Imprimatur' leaf dated '25 Gennaro 1756' with list of Piranesi's publications verso), pp.(iv) Avviso al publico. 25 Augusto 1756. pp.(ii) Milord. Febbraio 1757.pp.40, pp. xi ('Spiegazione' and 'Osservazioni'), pp.iii ('Indice, O Sia Spiegazione'), pp.iv ('Indice'), pp.iii ('Indice'), pp.(ii) ('Repertorio'). Engraved frontispiece portrait of Piranesi by Polanzani, printed title, engraved double-page dedication plate with text 'Utilitati Publicae' (second state after the removal of 'Lord Charlemont'), Piranesi's text and 44 engraved plates plus 1 map, of which 5 are double-page, 1 large folding plate on two sheets, 2 folding plates on 1 sheet and 30 single page plates with two images;
    Vol. II: engraved title, engraved double-page frontispiece and engraved list of subjects and 60 engraved plates, numbered I - LXIII (including title, frontispiece and list of subjects), of which 44 are double-page and one large double-page folding plate on 2 sheets;
    Vol. III: engraved title and engraved double-page frontispiece and 52 plates, numbered I - LIV (including title and frontispiece), of which 42 are double-page and one large double-page folding plate on 2 sheets (four plates are by Girolamo Rossi and one by an anonymous artist);
    Vol. IV: engraved title, engraved double-page frontispiece and engraved list of subjects and 57 plates.
    Sheet size (double-page): c.725 x 520 mm (or the reverse). Watermarks examined include the shiled with sword and fleur-de-lys (Robison 61), a fleur-de-lys with initials (Robison 20 / 21), a fleur-de-lys within a single circle (Robison 18 / 19) however the majority of those present appear to be the fleur-de-lys within a double circle (Robison 33 / 35).
    Full contemporary polished calf, rebacked, boards with triple-ruled borders and floral corner pieces in gilt, banded spines with gilt tooling and black leather label with gilt title in nine compartments, turn-ins tooled in gilt, marbled endpapers and edges. Repairs to edges and corners. An excellent example.

  10. Landscape folio (30 x 42.2 cm), engraved title, dedication to Doge Luigi Mocenigo dated 27 May 1703, 103 numbered etched views by Carlevaris, puncture marks to the centre-verso of plate 103 running through to plate 95, with associated small holes to plates 100-103, occasional faint soiling and browning, contemporary panelled calf, gilt spine with red morocco label, speckled edges; rebacked preserving spine.
