A rare double-signed first edition of this poetic work originally published to save the Red River Gorge in Kentucky from destruction by a proposed Army Corps of Engineers' dam; the arresting photography by subsequently renowned experimental photographer Gene Meatyard was the result of many trips undertaken with Wendell Berry into the Appalachian hills, where the photographer's ashes were scattered after his death (obviously) in 1972.
